I was deeply moved by the draughts and famine in Africa a few years back. I wanted to capture both the feeling of need and of satisfaction.

I was trying to find interesting portraits to work with in graphite pencil when the expression of this old Mongolian villager caught my eye. He just looks like he’s got so many interesting stories to tell.
